Balarabe Musa Blaims Nigerian Politicians
A former Kaduna state governor, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, has blamed the Nigerian nation’s current state on greedy politicians ‘ activities.
Highlighting the gap between the first republic’s politicians and the current crop, Alhaji Musa noted that the old leaders ‘ crop was more interested in national development than battling for their own pockets.
Nevertheless, he regretted that greedy politicians had corrupted the current political landscape in Nigeria.
This he said at the late Chief Josiah Sunday Olawoyin’s 19th Memorial Lecture in Offa, Kwara State, where he spoke on the subject, “Sustaining the Gains of Kwara Liberation Accomplishment through the Vehicle of Political Idealism.”
Musa had his speech delivered by his brother, Kassim Balarabe Musa, as stated by Daily Trust, and said “there is no basis for comparison between colonial-time politicians and the first republic on the one side and subsequent republics on the other.
“Even though the first republic governance was characterized by semi feudalism and conservatism, there was credible leadership and concern for the people.”
As a solution to Nigeria’s problem, he recommened “the alliance of progressive political opposition parties can bailout the country and make the current democracy to succeed.”
